Cafe pomegranate is a cafe restaurant located in the middle of the rice field in central Ubud which is in a walking distance from the local Ubud market.
It was started in May 2012 by Japanese brothers.
The elder brother is an interior designer and did the building design for this place. The younger brother is mainly in charge of the operation including setting up the menu which contains various foods from different part of the world such as Japan, Europe, Singapore and others.
The building stands in a unique condition due to the raised altitude compared to the central Ubud and disconnected from the busy main streets. It provides a 360° open view.
In the morning, we can usually see Agung mountain “the holy mountain” on the northeast and Batukaru mountain on the northwest in Tabanan.
One of our prime times is to see the sunset looking over the view of the rice field towards the Camphuan river.
In the evening, we have a view of the stars and fireflies and also in a far distance we can see the city lights in Nusadua and Kuta, Jimbaran area because there are no street lights in our area. (Please bring a flash light if you plan to come in the evening time.)

Eating at Sari Organik Ubud is a really unique experience. Not only for the food, but also for its location. It’s smack in the middle of the Ubud’s rice fields.
To get there you need to head towards Campuan bridge when you come from Ubud Palace. Just before the road turns into a green oasis with huge trees hanging over the road, you turn right up a road that looks more like a driveway.
There’s a sign with Sari Organik on it and a phone number. If you want them to pick you up all you need to do is call them- Be aware though that the rice fields paths are very narrow, so you have to jump on a motor bike to get there. Walking only takes about 20 minutes.
Sari Organik is an organization that aims to produce organic products. Their restaurant is actually called Warung Bodag Maliah. So don’t get confused once you arrive.
As mentioned earlier Sari Organik Ubud aims at whole and organic food. They use ingredients straight from their organic garden or buy them at farmers who grow chemical free products.
When you walk around you can spot their garden. And if you want you can even pick your own vegetables to create your own dish.

Betelnut Café, Canggu

On your way to Echo Beach, look out for the rustic wooden shack with the hot pink walls opposite Deus. Park the bike/ car/ pram downstairs and climb up the steep wooden staircase, perhaps stepping over a couple of snoozing dogs while you’re at it, and you’ll arrive at the best place to sit in Betelnut.  It’s like you’re in a big tree-house (albeit one filled with surfer dudes, travelling hipsters and local Canggu expats) with a cool view overlooking the ricefields and a gentle breeze.  Grab a booth, a comfy couch or squeeze in at the communal table.

The vibe here is earthy, happy, colourful, beachie, casual and relaxed, the foodie fare is organic, healthy, tasty and clearly made with love, and all are made welcome… adults, kids, locals, tourists, sandy feet, even dogs.

The little ones can order from a special kids menu which includes mini serves of Indonesian nasi and mie dishes, quesadillas and cheeseburgers.

For brekkie and brunch us bigger kids can welcome the day with classic egg dishes plus all the extras, healthy granola, or a beautiful tropical Betel Bowl.  For lunch there are burgers, salads, wraps, mexican burritos and more.  Refreshing drinks include colourful juices, smoothies, coolers, frappes, kopi, tea, wheatgrass shots, chai, or an icy cold Bintang for Dad.

Sipping on fresh young coconuts and tropical juices, and munching on big bowls of edamame is a favourite family snack here.

There is always an amazing selection of sweet treats on offer including chocolate brownies served with ice cream, their famous variations of cheesecake (Bounty, Oreo, Mixed Berry, Gypsy, Banofee, the list goes on!), lots of gluten free options and the stunning hot pink and chocolate brown Betel cake. So make sure you leave room for a treat after lunch, or make a pitstop here purely to indulge in some baked goodies for morning or afternoon tea.

With no grassy lawn area, it might not be the best spot for energetic toddlers on the move, or babes in prams, but for our family it makes for a fun and casual spot for a bite to eat, with the exciting climb up the staircase still a novelty for the little ones.

For non stair climbers, there is an enclosed air-conditioned area downstairs.

Takeaway and local delivery available.

Open Tuesday to Sunday – 7am to 10pm for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Teetering on the edge of the Campuhan Ridge, The Elephant has earned a spot on this site by serving some of the best cooked vegan food in town. Though it has a fairly small Raw Menu, composed of salads, juices and smoothies, the owner is in tune with the culinary preferences of the Ubudian healthy living crowd and has plans to add more Raw to the menu, including desserts! In the mean while, it’s got enough to satisfy most Raw Foodies, as well as simply blow away vegetarians and vegans. Some of the best cooked vegan and vegetarian food I’ve had in Bali, particularly the soups. And the view is gob smacking. Well worth a trip.

friendly Balinese owner. Locally sourced organic ingredients. Heritage rice varieties. No aluminum cookware. Palm sugar sourced from small family farms instead of large plantations. Kombucha. Kim Chi. Pressed Juices.Dairy Free Ice Cream.A decent number of raw options.Highly affordable. Quiet, peaceful hillside setting. And no smoking! What more could you want from a local restaurant? It’s highly encouraging to see the Balinese creating high-vibration establishments like this, and I look forward to seeing more crop up in the near future.

While Soma may be the smallest raw food restaurant in Ubud, its snug digs pack a big punch. The menu is distinguishing, the raw options are heavenly, and the vibe is uber-friendly. Local proprietor Johnny embodies the social atmosphere as he can often be found hanging out, talking to friends or jamming on his guitar – or if you’re really lucky, his didgeridoo. Several dessert specials rotate frequently, and there is a small shop section in the place offering raw cacao products, cashews and other staples of any Balinese raw food pantry. This is the only place in town that I’ve found that will make you fresh coconut milk on the spot for takeaway. They also make fresh cashew milk and you can purchase their exquisite salad dressings by the jar or bottle. On top of all that, Soma is the only place in town that offers shots of daikon; Indulge at your own risk!

One of the complaints I hear about Raw Food is that it’s often trying to be something it’s not. Meaning that people call Raw dishes, Pizzas, Burgers, Pastas, Cheesecakes, etc. and they don’t taste like the real deal. I hear you. If you want to try Raw Versions of traditional food that ACTUALLY taste like the real thing, and even taste better, plus are much healthier, The Seeds of Life Bali is the place to hit up. Sayuri and Ben are master Raw Food chefs who conduct Raw Chef training’s and create masterpieces on a daily basis. Their Better than Beef Lasagna actually tastes like it has minced beef in it. It’s simply mind-blowing.

On top of the food, this place has a very unique aspect to it; the Tonic Bar. Ben has studied ancient Chinese medicine along with a number of other holistic nutritional schools of thought and has crafted delicious powerhouse tonics that round out a healthy diet in a fashion that few other foods can. A must visit when it comes to the Ubud Raw Food Restaurants. They also do a daily Ashtanga Yoga practice in their upstairs studio.
